Unfortunately, after 8 years of doing the convention, I will no longer be setting up a table at Emerald City Comicon. My application for ECCC 2017 has been denied due to the high volume of applicants and I don't feel that I really have the energy to deal with waitlists and all of that chaos.
Furthermore, it is unlikely I will be applying to set up the table again anytime soon. I assumed that they would be giving some form of priority to people who have been doing it for so long. But if this is how they are running it now, I am not interested in doing it.
It's a little heartbreaking, I won't lie. I have a LOT of fun meeting fans of my work and of course making a little extra money on the side. But as with all good things, it must come to an end someday.
I want to thank EVERY person who ever stopped by my table and chatted with me. For me, the sales were always nice, of course, but meeting people who were invested in what it is that I create was always the primary reason that I did the convention. So I will greatly miss that part of it.
As you can imagine, this doesn't end anything at all. I'll still be making prints, I'll still be making books, and I have a lot of different ideas that I will be focusing on moving forward that I think a lot of folks are going to be very interested in.
Here's to the future! Cheers!
